Weekend Binge List - Uno

Updated: Oct 5, 2021

It's always a hassle to pick out the perfect TV show to binge watch for the weekend. Sometimes browsing through the list of series to watch in itself is a huge task and we end up binge browsing, instead of binge-watching.

Here I have curated a list of series, which are usually one or two seasons in length, and sets up your weekend on your couch.

Queen's Gambit

8 episode series with very tense and some dull moments, about chess. The overall narrative is so well written that after finishing the series, you'll want to learn chess (if you don't know) and end up browsing about it so much that your YouTube recommendations will be filled with anything related chess for the next one week.

Ginny and Georgia

10 episode series, exploring a mother-daughter relationship and also various of the mother's relationships. There are a lot of unnecessary references and some scenes might seem downright inappropriate, but if you're looking for a way to relax willing to overlook certain things, then this is a good watch.

Modern Love

This 2 season series, follows different people and the storyline is not intertwined with each other, except for a small connection to all the characters at the end of season 1. Other than that, all the stories have different narratives, exploring the meaning of love in our lives. If you aim to spend the weekend with a breezy feeling, then this is highly recommended.

Emily in Paris

10 episode series, all set in Paris is all about fashion, and what appears to be a modern "Sex and the City" vibe. Honestly, I did not feel that at all. The highlights of this show are the costumes, Paris, incredibly good-looking French guys. If you are up for watching a show, which in the end will make you want to move to Paris, then go for it!

Never Have I Ever

This 2 season show is all about an Indian-American teen and her quest to find a boyfriend. Apart from some good emotional scenes and some jacked-up humor, there's not much of a story to tell there. If you're into teen dramas and want to watch how Indian-American teens behave (in a movie, most of it doesn't actually happen), then this is the one.

Industry

8 episode series, follows a bunch of fresh graduates who land their investment banking jobs, their daily professional and personal struggle. Since the characters are from diverse backgrounds, there is a lot of focus on every characters' struggle and the pressure a banking job can have in their personal life.

The Undoing

A combination of Hugh Grant and Nicole Kidman, in a murder mystery, is a must-watch for several reasons. I don't think I have to mention the reasons. It's inherent and if not, you'll know why once you watch it. This 6 episode series will leave you astonished and relieved in the end

Sweet Magnolias

It is really sweet indeed. Set in a suburban neighborhood, this show just flows like a river. There are some tense moments in between, but that combined with a steady pace of story building, provides a space for viewers to be at ease. If you looking to have a calm weekend, this is your go-to

Spinning Out

Watching this makes me want to go ice skating. Following the narrative of a professional figure skater, this 10 episode show is sure to leave a mark on you in the end

Bridgerton

One of the highly-rated shows of 2020, set in the 1800s (I guess?!), it sure does involve a lot of drama. This show is more like the Gossip Girl of its' times, with the letters having a condescending and poetic tone at the same time. Well, the main highlight is Rege-Jean Page and who am I to say no to that!

Insatiable

There's a lot right and wrong about this show at the same time. It gives a peek into how teenagers measure their success with their body image and peer pressure. This 2 season show deals with beauty pageant shows and the judgment that every contestant faces at every point. Again, this is a teen drama. If you are in a mood to watch some judgey show, this is it.

Country Comfort

Honestly, I wasn't a big fan of country shows until I watched this one. There's some drama in it, but this is in addition to an easy-going and happy storyline. A breezy and happy weekend, here I come!

Friends from College

I started watching this show for Cobie Smoulder aka., Robin from HIMYM. It's funny, dramatic, and sentimental, basically, all endorphin emotions put together. I hope my college reunion wouldn't be like this, except for the enjoyment part.

THE END

That's all for this article. There are many shows that could be put up on this list, but there's only so much that can go into one list. I'll come up with the next set of binge-watch series, the ones that are not that popular but are worth watching.
