There are movies that inspire you to achieve or at least attempt to do something better. It inspires you to pick up a hobby or improve a skill that you have been trying to get right. Watching cooking shows or videos has always made me 'want to' cook, but hardly I did (until recently). But, my point here is that I have curated a list of movies where the storyline is set in the kitchen and it's all about food prep and the profession.
I have organized the list in descending order of popularity.
The 100 foot journey
A story about an Indian restauranter's family, which relocates to Paris and opens a restaurant opposite a Michelin star one. It's a usual obstacles to success story, but the blend of two cultures that are fundamentally different from each other.
Tortilla soup
A Mexican-American family and their story around the kitchen. This movie is not just about cooking, but it highlights small problems every family faces even if everyone is grown up.
East side sushi
A single Latino mother struggling to make ends meet finds her passion in cooking while working at a Japanese Sushi restaurant and aspires to become a sushi chef.
Burnt
This movie has Bradley Cooper as a chef. I don't think I can top that with my description.
Love's kitchen
It indeed is! A cute love story between chef and food critic. A breezy watch for a cozy weekend.
No reservations
A chef takes care of her niece while tackling a male sous-chef who threatens her position. It leaves you with a cute and sweet feeling in the end.
Ratatouille
Honestly, I was skeptical about watching a cooking-based animated movie. But it's much better than the ones with people in it. I am assuming most of you have watched this. If you haven't, then you have to.
Julie & Julia
This was one of the first movies I watched in this genre, and I must say, Meryl Streep never disappoints. After watching this movie, I also wanted to be like Julie and start a food blog. There's so much passion and enthusiasm throughout the screenplay and the narration is the highlight of the entire movie
Chef
After watching this movie, I wanted to quit my job and start a food truck. That's precisely the impact this movie had on me and I hope it will on you too!
That's all for today. Suggest me any other cooking-themed movies in the comments or write to tsindhu24@outlook.com
